EMS TRAINING FOR HERNIATED DISC

Not only older individuals but also an increasing number of younger people suffer from herniated discs. Possible causes include overweight, improper loading, or overloading of the spine. While herniated discs in younger individuals can also be genetically predisposed, the damage can often be addressed without surgery. However, the best treatment remains prevention. Our joint-friendly and effective EMS training against herniated discs is ideal for prevention, as EMS impulses specifically target and strengthen the deep muscles in the back, providing stabilization.

WHAT IS A HERNIATED DISC?

Each of our 23 intervertebral discs contains a gel-like substance called the nucleus pulposus, resembling a gel cushion. It is surrounded by a tough fibrous ring that holds it in place. As we age, the water content decreases, reducing the elasticity of the fibrous ring and leading to minor tears. The diminishing stability of its enclosure causes the gel-like substance to bulge outward. If it completely breaches the fibrous ring, it results in a herniated disc, medically known as a prolapse.

HOW TO RECOGNIZE A HERNIATED DISC?

Symptoms can vary among individuals, but the most common manifestation of a herniated disc is intense pain due to pressure from the gel-like nucleus on the spinal nerves. In severe cases, the protruding nucleus can extend far enough to compress some of the nerve pathways in the spinal cord, leading to numbness or even paralysis of extremities.

Engaging in EMS training serves as an effective preventive measure against herniated discs.

EMS training against herniated discs doesn’t just target the superficial back muscles. The focused EMS impulses reach and train smaller muscles deep in the back musculature. The resulting muscle growth stabilizes the back and addresses existing imbalances. Inflamed ligaments are relieved, and the compressed spaces between the vertebrae expand once again.
